Polytex studio is an art-driven creative company led by the design practice of Henry Cox. We build visual worlds for artists, brands & institutions; through the mediums of print, motion & 3D.
MINT CONDITION
Mint Condition is a popular clubnight in Newcastle. Polytex was tasked with rebranding & expanding the name into a lifestyle brand. This included a new brand identity, brand mark, posters, merchandise & promo media as well as a monthly magazine.
The night itself focuses on alternative electronic music; as such we came up with the slogan “Strictly for the heads”. Positioning Mint Condition as a meeting place for individuals who are deeply invested in the music & its’ subculture. Drawing on classic rave flyers from the 90s & early 2000’s we developed the “M-face” brand mark. We wanted to stay away from “Mint” imagery, instead opting for the coin eyes, re: the royal mint. The spray painted M mouth nods to the diy culture that the brand was born out of.
The brand has gone from a small weekly club night, to a national brand that regularly hosts world-renowned artists & collaborates with international brands.

Grand Palais
Brand identity & design for The Grand Palais; a new cinema, bar, restaurant & art space in Salford. Restored to its’ former glory, The Grand Palais is a beautiful 1920s art deco cinema, standing a few hundred yards from the home of renowned painter L.S Lowry (who often frequented the original cinema). The design & identity pays homage to this, in the form of its’ brand mark, inspired by the hunched figures featured in Lowry’s work. The clients wanted an identity that felt modern & welcoming; but which also acknowledged the buildings’ history. We mixed elements of art deco design with modern Swiss clean layouts.

Album artwork & layout for the British rock band Boston Manor. The band opted for clean, minimalist design displaying the work of photographer Nick Barkworth.
